Pearls has not been able to take walks or visit Grandpaw because of opened wounds. So I have been trying to come up with things to spoil her with. What has she liked the best. A impromptu picnic on the deck we had this morning. What did I serve, you ask?? Why peanut butter on crackers and chicken broth. Yummo..... I had milk instead of the broth. I think this might just become a weekly warm weather tradition here.
I am making some homemade "Frosty Treats" for tomorrows picnic. You take a 32 oz container of plain / vanilla yogurt and 1 small can of tuna fish packed in oil mix together. Freeze in little containers or ice cube trays. This is a messy treat so if you make these be sure to serve them to your 4 legged ones outside. Gretchen just loves these treats but wait what doesn't she love ...only raw carrots.

Guess who was helpful
I left my blueberry bagel in the toaster to long and it burnt. Bummer for me but wait don't worry it didn't go to waste. My two beautiful coon hounds came to the rescue. They thought it was so yummy... Pearl even pushed Gretchen out of the way to get her share. Well, I know they have charcoal flavored dog treats at the dog party store (pet store) so this was just was a homemade version with blueberries in them. Nice snack burnt bagel and hard boiled egg. Yum mo, for them. Staying on the path of homemade snacks by default. LOL

Who is the baking / cooking for?
I decide to make No bake cookies for myself. I got to thinking that maybe I could change up the recipe and make some for the girls. They love peanut butter ,too. They are made with chocolate and since dogs can not have chocolate (one of my fav's in life) I got out the carob powder for theirs. Tweak it a little more. Well, I did make some that the girls keep begging for once they had their first taste of them. So a good start for the homemade dog treat in the year 2011.

New Years for the PUPS
The new year will find more home made treats in the pups tummies. Gretchen had problems with some store brought treats. So from now on it will be what we call Chicken Chicken brought ( dried commerical chicken ) . Everthing else will be home made, that way I know what is in their tummies.
Plus they love my baking . Anything that comes out of the oven they think is theirs any way.. ..LOL
I have lots and lots of recipes for treats to try out.... Am sure that they will be willing taste tasters.
