Food restriction , Grrrrrrrrr
The vet thinks Gretchie bum bum problem may be a food allergy. The med's didn't clear everything up. The only way to find out is to restrict her to her dry food, chicken chicken, rice & home made chicken broth. NO treats homemade or store brought or any of my snacks or meals. Well... she is having none of it. She has stolen two hot dogs, a piece of cheese, crackers, a strawberry.....etc. So I would have to say that this is not going to well & I need to do this for how long, Dr Meyer WHAT ...........3 MONTHS..........Grrrrrrrrrr. It will be so hard on us cause I see us starting over a lot to make it to 3 months in a row without "restricted" food.

Do we know how to have fun or what?
Pearls has not been able to take walks or visit Grandpaw because of opened wounds. So I have been trying to come up with things to spoil her with. What has she liked the best. A impromptu picnic on the deck we had this morning. What did I serve, you ask?? Why peanut butter on crackers and chicken broth. Yummo..... I had milk instead of the broth. I think this might just become a weekly warm weather tradition here.
I am making some homemade "Frosty Treats" for tomorrows picnic. You take a 32 oz container of plain / vanilla yogurt and 1 small can of tuna fish packed in oil mix together. Freeze in little containers or ice cube trays. This is a messy treat so if you make these be sure to serve them to your 4 legged ones outside. Gretchen just loves these treats but wait what doesn't she love ...only raw carrots.

Who is the baking / cooking for?
I decide to make No bake cookies for myself. I got to thinking that maybe I could change up the recipe and make some for the girls. They love peanut butter ,too. They are made with chocolate and since dogs can not have chocolate (one of my fav's in life) I got out the carob powder for theirs. Tweak it a little more. Well, I did make some that the girls keep begging for once they had their first taste of them. So a good start for the homemade dog treat in the year 2011.

rice and cheese please
The girls were so excited to get plain white rice for snack today. You would of thought it was a T-bone steak they way they were begging for it. LOL Gretchen walked around for a couple of hours with one grain of rice on her snout. It was so funny to look down at her 2 hours later and it was still there. She didn't appreciated me laughing at her. I didn't think it was funny when I found some rice in my slippers later... boy is rice sticky. I am having a goal to make all of their treats in the future. I brought treats from the store which caused Gretchen to have some stinky butt problems. The problem is now gone.
Pearl was very happy to get to eat a bite of her Christmas present today. Which Santa Paws brought her. What did she get ...what was on her list of course....a 8 oz block of Colby cheese. She has to wait until her sisser is outside, otherwise she would have to share a lot more of it then she wants too.. We do save a little piece for Gretchen cause she can smell it on Pearl breathe and looks and barks for her piece.
All is quiet in the Palmer yard ....too quiet......in fact for too long... I look outside to check to see what is what .....I see Gretchen is standing under the pine tree by the back fence just gazing down the alleyway. Turn my head the other way to see Pearl is standing at the front gate just gazing down the driveway... out to the street. Too funny ... they usually would be barking at something..
