Surgery day

Well,we over slept but still got Pearlie girl off the the vet in time. Gretchie was up ready the moment the alarm went off at that un-Godly hour of 6:45. Pearl and I not so much, in fact we fell back to sleep. While I am getting up I tell Pearl to get up too. Pearl looks at me saying" Mom the sun isn't even up yet ..why do I have to get up." I explain that we need to get to the vets early, for today is her surgery day. She looks at me and lays her head back down on the bed and closes her eyes. I sing the wake up song and tug on her legs to help her get a going. She is not having any of it. In a stern voice I tell her it is time now to get up. She mosey up to her feet and stretches her front legs and then her back legs. Finally moves to the edge of the bed .... does she jump off no she stretches again. After about 5 minutes from being told to get up she jumps off the bed. Moseys down the stairs and into the living room to curl up on the dog cushie there. I laugh and tell her.." get your fanny to the back door so you can go potty before we leave." All the time this is taking place Gretchie is barking cause she knows something is up. Finally Pearl is out the back door to go potty. I fill a toy with some food for Gretchen and give it to her. She is very happy about that. I wait a few minutes and then put on my coat.  I walk out the back door.  All is well I made it out the door and Gretchen is none the wise.  The back door of the car is open and Diva Pearl jumps in without the normal butt lift I have to give her. I open the latch on the driveway gate.... all of a sudden a loud mournful sound starts coming from the inside the house of the poor dog who discovers she was being left behind is AWFUL. My heart feels for her but I wanted this time alone with Pearl. So I toughen up and drive away leaving one PISSED off dog behind.
Arrived at the vet and take Pearl in . They weight her and she has put on 2 lbs, which brings her to 60. She still needs to add a few more and Gretchie need to loose a few more. I handed her  antibiotics plus the hate E-collar (that her sisser wore after her surgery earlier this year ) over to vet tech. I kissed my Pearlie girl and told her I would be there early on Saturday to bring her home. Oh, how do mothers of real kids do this. I think this is harder on me than her. A few tears and I leave the parking lot.

As I am driving I spied Dunken Donuts so I pull in. I figure that I would get a donut for Gretchie to make up for her being left behind this morning. I got my favorite chocolate honey dip one and an old fashion one for my Gretchie- poo. Hope this does the trick of making up. Which it does. Now the long wait until Pearlie girl is back home where she belongs.
